Earlier this week, it emerged that. Buckingham filed the legal papers against the group claiming he had lost up to $14 million as a result of his dismissal in January this year, which stemmed from a scheduling conflict centred around a world tour. Fleetwood Mac then brought in Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House leader Neil Finn for their live shows. And in a new interview, Buckingham has taken issue with the current lineup, calling them a “cover band” – but says he’d rejoin Fleetwood Mac if asked. Asked by if he thought he’d ever return to Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham replies: “Look, it’s Fleetwood Mac, anything’s possible.

Maybe they’ll get it out of their system. “If they ask me to come back, would I? Sure, because to me I think the lack of a proper farewell tour – if that’s what we’re doing – that doesn’t undercut, like I say, the legacy that we have so carefully built as the five of us, which they’re not doing right now. “I don’t know what they’re doing. It’s a cover band kind of deal, and Stevie Nicks may be enjoying that, and that’s fine. If she’s happy doing that, there is no one outcome that I think is going to be OK.
I don’t know what they’re doing. It’s a cover band kind of deal Lindsey Buckingham “The way I look at it is it’s giving me an opportunity to do some things in a more rapid-fire way with some new people who actually care about what I’m doing and not just about getting the money from Fleetwood Mac. “I mean, it does make me question who these people are, but again, to look at it compassionately, I think it’s all coming from a lack of perspective and to some degree a certain weakness on their parts.
I can’t stop loving them because of that.” Buckingham previously said he hadn’t spoken directly to any of his old bandmates since the split, but had received an email from Christine McVie. He now says: “Once we signed some papers a few weeks ago, I did hear from Christine in an email, as I expected to. I know Mick would probably like to, but I think he’s too embarrassed and just a little too weak-willed to do it.

Fleetwood Mac © PA Images Christine McVie has once again confirmed that the classic line-up of Fleetwood Mac are joining forces for a worldwide tour. The British-American rock icons haven’t performed together since they wrapped up their On with the Show world tour in New Zealand in November 2015, with Stevie Nicks pursuing her solo career and Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham releasing a self-titled album last Friday (9th June) featuring guest contributions from John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. Earlier this year it was confirmed that Fleetwood Mac would co-headline The Classic West and The Classic East festivals in Los Angeles and New York with The Eagles in July. Confirming there will be more dates across the globe, Christine McVie told the BBC’s The One Show last night: 'We're going to start rehearsing in March, next year. The tour is around June. It will be global.'
Speaking about their touring plans to Uncut back in June, McVie said she was unsure whether it would be a swansong tour. Describing Fleetwood Mac as 'an umbilical cord that can't be broken. It just pulls you back',: 'The 2018 tour is supposed to be a farewell tour, but you take farewell tours one at a time.
Somehow we always come together, this unit. We can feel it ourselves.'
Fleetwood Mac last toured the UK in the summer of 2015 playing 15 arena shows and headlining Isle of Wight Festival as part of their sprawling 120-date worldwide tour. As part of the promotion for the ‘Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie’ album, on Monday night the pair guest appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night where they reinterpreted the 1977 ‘Rumours’ track ‘Don’t Stop’ with classroom instruments.
With Christine on a miniscule keyboard, Lindsey on a tiny guitar and host Jimmy on percussion they belted out ‘Don’t Stop’ with great aplomb while flanked by Jimmy’s in-house band The Roots and kids from SeriousFun – a Paul Newman founded charity that provides camps and programmes for seriously ill children.
